Soaring Eagles

Let’s celebrate our students who are making a difference!

Davonte Mendiola

Mrs. Hatfield would like to nominate Davonte as a soaring eagle for his exemplary character. Davonte has been motivated to do well all year. He constantly asks for help, makes sure he is completing work right, and helps others get on track. He is respectful, follows all rules and directions, and encourages others to do so as well. He is considerate of other students and even points out THEIR positive contributions to class. He is so thoughtful. I had the pleasure of having him as a student last year, and have noticed how much more mature and motivated Davonte is this year. I appreciate everything he contributes to class and I hope he keeps up the good work!

Anna Wills

Mrs. Hatfield would like to nominate Anna Wills for Soaring Eagle due to her exemplary character. She is very helpful, trustworthy, and motivated. Anna gets busy on her work immediately when class begins. She always asks "What can I help you with?" after she has finished her work. I know I can count on her to help substitutes and other students when needed. Anna steps up to meet any challenges and is a strong leader in our classroom. Thank you Anna for everything you do! You are very much appreciated!

Way to Soar, Mr. Delgado!

Corner Lake Middle School is proud to recognize Mr. Delgado as this week’s Golden Eagle, selected by Dr. Hyser!
Mr. Delgado shines in the way he builds meaningful, lasting relationships with his students. He takes the time to truly know each learner—their interests, their strengths, and the things that make them feel seen. In his classroom, students experience a genuine sense of belonging, where they feel both personally supported and academically challenged.
His commitment to student well‑being is evident in the way he shows up each day: checking in, encouraging growth, and creating opportunities for connection. Mr. Delgado’s steady advocacy and heartfelt investment in his students help them feel valued, capable, and motivated to reach their full potential.
Mr. Delgado, thank you for the care, intention, and relationship‑centered teaching that help our Golden Eagles soar. 🦅

Battle of the Books!

A huge Eagle‑sized shoutout to our 2026 Corner Lake Middle School Battle of the Books Team!
Lillian Weisinger • Nicholas Wilson • Kya Sounders • Laylani Gutierrez • Katie Becker • Sophia Henriquez
These incredible readers have been putting in the work—and it showed. Their dedication, teamwork, and love of reading carried them all the way to the Top Five for the first time in CLMS history. What an achievement for our school and for this amazing group of students.
Throughout the competition, they pushed through technical hiccups, supported one another, and demonstrated the kind of collaboration that makes our Golden Eagles shine. Their perseverance and positivity were truly inspiring.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Roberts, whose guidance, encouragement, and steady leadership helped these students soar higher than ever.
We are so proud of you, Battle of the Books team—keep flying high! 🦅

From curating a welcoming media center to supporting students in their reading journeys, she is truly the heartbeat of our library and a cherished part of our CLMS family.
Whether she’s helping a student find the perfect book, guiding research, cheering on Battle of the Books, or creating a space where every Eagle feels at home, Mrs. Roberts does it all with kindness, patience, and a joyful spirit. Her impact reaches far beyond the shelves—she inspires curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning in every student who walks through her doors.

Our 3D Art students have been hard at work bringing their animal sculptures to life!

Over the past few weeks, these talented artists have been diving into the world of clay—learning about its properties, practicing essential techniques, and mastering the tools that help transform an idea into a three‑dimensional creation.
Their focus, patience, and creativity are shining through in every step of the process. You can already tell these sculptures are going to be incredible. There is so much talent around the Lake, and we can’t wait to see the final results of their hard work.
Way to go, artists—keep shaping, building, and soaring! 🦅

ECG Heart Screening

Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in sports and on school campuses, and many cases are linked to detectable heart conditions. To help protect our students, Corner Lake Middle School has partnered with Who We Play For to offer free ECG heart screenings for all middle and high school students. Screenings will take place on April 15 from 4:00–6:00 PM at Corner Lake Middle School (1700 Chuluota Rd, Orlando, FL 32820).
Parents and guardians can register their student online or by scanning the QR code. An ECG is quick, painless, and far more effective than a standard physical at detecting certain heart conditions. Each screening is reviewed by a board‑certified pediatric cardiologist, and results are emailed within 10 business days.
Who We Play For is a nonprofit dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac death in young people. They have screened more than 400,000 students nationwide and helped identify over 400 previously undetected life‑threatening conditions.
Thank you for helping us protect the heart of every child.
